Avoiding "The terrible leaving do of 2017..."
THE TEAM PLAYER WHO SAVED THE DAY
Whilst listening to a comedy sketch on Radio 4, a song came on that hilariously depicted "The terrible leaving do of 2017"! It told the tale of a disfunctional team of workers out on a Friday night for a colleague's leaving do. Only seven turn up, none of whom want to be there, and no-one can leave early as it will be too noticeable!
Then up rocks Mary...or Milly...or Maureen.. and is she from Marketing..? Nobody knows, but she saves the day, relating with ease to each person and in doing so, turns the evening into a success!
It can be hard to understand what makes others tick, but development tools such as Motivational Maps® enable managers to build effective motivational strategies for their teams.

HAPPINESS AT WORK IS A 'THING'
In fact, the Office of National Statistics measures it in its Measures of National Wellbeing, and The Sunday Times publishes an annual 100 Best Companies to Work For based on eight indicators of staff engagement: Leadership; My Manager; Personal Growth; Wellbeing; My Team; Giving Something Back; My Company; and Fair Deal. It's tangible and impacts productivity and growth!
NOT ALL MOTIVATORS ARE THE SAME
At best an unhappy team is hard work, it saps energy and each person feels they are trudging through the day. By contrast, a happy team exudes enthusiasm, is productive and cohesive and, from a boss's perspective, far easier to manage. Happy teams require managers that Motivate, Consider, Communicate and Care.
Motivational Maps® is based on extensive research into human motivation, and uses an online evaluator tool to identify nine core motivations that are grouped into three cluster areas: Achievement, Relationships and Growth. Used as part of a bespoke programme including coaching and facilitated workshops, it unlocks motivation and potential across departments and teams.
